Contrary to what some of our competitors in the industry might be telling you, the mandate absolutley does not require licensees to change to new radio frequencies (or channels) or to another band, nor does it require moving from analog to digital or P-25, or, from a conventional to a trunked radio system.
There certain situations where a conversion to one of these technologies may be in your best interested. This decision should be carefully exploree with the assistance of a qualified radio communications professional. The mandate also does not necessarliy mean that all your radios must be tossed into the dumpster. Only the non-compliant radios must be taken out of service. Many radios can be brought into compliance by simply reprogramming. Many of our customers have already begun their "narrow-band" migration process by replacing older "wide-band" radios with dual-mode subscriber radios (those capable of both 25 KHz and/or 12.5 KHz operation) as they add new radios to their system or, as older radios are lost, damaged beyond repair, or otherwise removed from service.
This a practical, cost-effective approach for many, particularly those with large numbers of subscriber radios and do not have the financial resources for a forklift upgrade.
If you haven't started your migration to narrowband yet, a igration to 6.25K channel spacing and/or digitial technology may be a consideration if you are facing the forklift upgrade. Even if 6.25 (digital) is the right choice for your company or orginization, we encourage you to explore your options. Many digitial systems will lock you into one manufacturer or supplier forever. We have digitial solutions that will allow you to use both your analog and digitial equipment simultanously until 6.25 (digital) becomes mandatory.
REMEMBER, there is no Mandate for digitial and there is no target date yet for such a mandate. It has taken over 20 years to reach the 12.5K mandate.
We urge you to contact us in the near future for straight answers to your questions and informed suggestions on how we can be of service to your company or organization. The compliance deadline is s not that far away, particularly when financial resources may need to be prepared for
Non-compliance may result in
cancellation of licenses by the FCC.
